Chain of Ponds

South Australian Wineries It’s extremely rare that a winery can claim to produce wines that rival the great whites wines from Burgundy, but Chain of Ponds is one of them.

The Amadio family came to Gumeracha in 1985 and started a trial vineyard with an initial planting of 3 acres. It was soon realized that the area was capable of producing premium fruit, and plantings were increased to 150 acres.

In 1997 a further 300 hundred acres were put under vine at Kersbrook to increase premium fruit production.

The soil types had been identified and analysed before a single vine was planted by digging three hundred pits two metres deep.

Being able to source fruit from two vineyards provides winemaker Neville Faulkenberg with many blending options.

The Gumeracha site provides fruit with a delicate intensity and subtleness derived from the cooler climate.

The slightly warmer Kersbrook site is more suited for the Cabernet and Shiraz, the fruit having greater intensity and a fuller flavour.

Chain of Ponds produces in small batches varieties such as Viognier, Pinot Noir, Riesling and Semillon, as well as some of the more unusual Italian varieties.

Chain of Ponds Wines is Australia’s highest Awarded Boutique Winery
in the Adelaide Hills and new varieties are constantly being developed.

The Chains of Ponds cellar door and restaurant are surrounded by breath taking views, reminiscent of the undulating hills of Tuscany. The picturesque vineyards provide the perfect backdrop for a gourmet and wine tasting experience that is Chain of Ponds.
